Profiles, Fastenings & Badges
Not all caps are made the same. Find your fit.
Introduction
Modern caps trace their roots to sport; practical sun-shading, breathable fabrics and adjustable closures, before becoming everyday style staples. There are many factors that shape the look and feel of premium caps including: profile (height), whether it is structured, the number of panels, the rear fastening and badging (the detail on the front).
Getting the profile right is the biggest win for comfort. Fastenings refine the fit and on premium caps add style, and badges set the tone, from crisp embroidery to soft cotton patches or stamped leather.
Common styles:
- Baseball cap — the classic all-rounder. Low to mid profile, relaxed or lightly structured crown, usually a curved brim. Easy daily wear.
- Trucker — mid to high profile with a structured front and mesh back. Breathable with that classic tall look.
- Snapback — technically named for the plastic snap fastening; technically a closure, but commonly used to mean a structured cap with a higher crown, often styled with a flat brim.
- Dad cap — typically low profile, unstructured washed cotton, curved brim, strapback. Soft, casual fit.
- 5-panel — a distinct panel layout with a flatter front. For us, we like this in retro-fit with a mid/high profile.
Profile
Profile describes how a cap sits on your head: the crown's height and whether it holds its shape or relaxes to yours. Low sits shallow and relaxed, mid is a balanced everyday fit, and high has a taller, structured front for a bolder look. Choosing the right profile is the quickest way to get a comfortable, confident fit.

Fastenings
The closure sets both comfort and character. Our caps most commonly use the following: standard plastic snap for quick, reliable sizing, a hook-and-loop strap that looks clean and flush, and a buckle with a tuck-in strap that looks particularly premium.
Badges
Whether you're supporting my store branding (thank you!) or choosing a logo that reflects your own interests, a badge lets your personality shine. Embroidered designs bring texture and precision, cotton badges give a relaxed vintage feel, and leather offers a timeless heritage look.
